Discharge of SHPOs/ SOPOs

I am Julian Hunt. I am a barrister. Each year I represent many people who have Sexual Offence Prevention Orders or Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and now wish to have them removed, discharged or varied. I often work closely with experts in the field of risk to ascertain whether an application has merit or not.  You can come direct to me rather than using a solicitor which many do. I have been a barrister since 2005.

The SOPO/ SHPO regime is a harsh regime and the Courts are required to balance the risk of harm to the public with the rehabilitation of the offender. A SOPO also affects notification requirements and whether convictions are required to be declared for non-DBS employment.

Let me see if I can help you. Do contact me for an initial conference. I am based in central London but undertake many cases entirely via phone or Zoom. Sadly, I am unable do not undertake legal aid work.  My fees are fixed for this work.

I will be able to discuss matters such as the need for an independent expert report, the merits of the application and the timelines for the matter. I will also be able to discuss with you the drafting of any application and what evidence I require if your case has merit. I will always have a conference/case review initially with you and ask that any papers are sent to me initially.

I have a website at www.julianrhunt.co.uk which has a link to my professional and personal biography along with highlighting other areas of practice. I also have a business called  Ellis and Sloane which this website address is linked to. I look forward to hearing from you directly by phone or email.

Contact me. I have done these cases all over the country and can help.

Fees

Although each case is different the typical case will be £350 plus VAT  for the case review and conference and then if we go forward further fees for the remainder of the legal work at and including the Crown Court (not including the rare instance of any appeal to the Court of Appeal). I now have use of Klarna so am able to accept payment in three monthly stages for work post the case review.

Do ring or email me. I am often at Court and in meetings and will contact you as soon as I or my administrator can. I run a small Chambers but will be in touch. Whether you are in Cornwall or Carlisle get in touch.

I have had some rather nice Google reviews as well which you can read on my Google business page. Due to the very private nature of SOPO works those particular reviews are often anonymous
